We are not amused
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has been publicly shamed for her apparent lack of interest in the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.
In a ceremony that has drawn mixed reviews, the Duchess of Cornwall was obviously less than impressed with the festivities at the opening of the 2018 Gold Coast Games.
TV cameras regularly caught the Duchess of Cornwall thumbing through the Games programme to pass the time as the show unfolded in front of her.
Many Australian media reports have labelled the Duchess of Cornwall as disrespectful and she has been slammed on social media for her alleged disinterest.
Alongside her husband and heir to the British throne, Prince Charles, Camilla was front and centre at the opening ceremony in front of around 35,000 people at Carrara Stadium.
Opening ceremonies aren’t everyone’s cup of tea and it appears Camilla wasn’t the only one struggling to focus on the drawnout show.
Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has also copped criticism on social media for apparently texting during the opening ceremony.
Turnbull was also caught on the TV cameras as he was scrolling through his phone.
Prince Charles opened the Games on behalf of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. He told the crowd that the ‘‘friendly games’’ have shown the potential of the Commonwealth to connect people of different backgrounds and nationalities.
