Creativity flourishes through art

-

Term one art classes are now starting at The Mairangi Arts Centre.

A vibrant, community based visual arts education facility and exhibition venue, its mission is to educate and foster growth in the creative arts by providing access to and participation in the arts for people of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience.

They offer a range of classes for all ages, children as young as five, teenagers and adults.

Some spaces are still available. Beginners are welcome with weekly classes, evening sessions and weekend workshops available.

A variety of interesting classes are available, like ‘Pottery After Dark’ – hand building clay classes for all levels of experience with opportunity for untutored time on the wheel for experienced students.

There is a Korean Oil Painting class with tutor Young Park – a Korean and English speaking tutor. Beginners to advanced abilities are all welcome to join this friendly group.

Other classes of interest include Creative Photography and Lightroom for photographers, a beginners Watercolour class with Ted Sherwen, and Art Journalling – a playful way to be creative without the fear of having to create a masterpiece.

Not forgetting Life Drawing, Contemporary Art – learn to express your creativity to produce exciting works of art, and an Abstract Acrylic Painting class – a fast-paced, enjoyable, emphasis on abstract design principles.

The course selection is always vast and diverse – with all types of painting styles (acrylics, oils, watercolour, pastels, life drawing etc), clay, pottery, mixed media, plus more.

Members get to enjoy significant discounts to classes and at selected art suppliers. At only $35 per year, per individual you’ll quickly reclaim your membership fee back.

Last year The Mairangi Arts Centre launched a new website – www.mairangiarts.co.nz – where you can quickly and easily book classes online, and filter class selections.
