Multiple Steps for Multiple Scelerosis
This month members of the Cox Partners team are supporting the Multiple Steps for Multiple Sclerosis Fun Run/Walk on Wednesday, 28th October 2020 from Marine Parade at 5:45 pm (you can register on the day or online at hawkesbaymultiplesclerosis.org).
My colleague Kendall Hinton lives with Multiple Sclerosis, so getting involved supports the Hawkes Bay MS community.
Multiple Sclerosis (often referred to as ‘MS’) is a progressive disease of the central nervous system that affects movement, sensation and body functions. Symptoms vary in nature and severity. While there is no cure, treatment can be effective in managing symptoms.
Here’s a brief insight into Kendalls experience with MS:
“Soon after my 50th birthday MS blasted its way into my life, uninvited and unwanted.
At first, I thought my life had ended.
But with help and support from my family, neurologists and other MSers, this condition has helped me embrace a more considered and colourful life.
My life did not end on the day ofmy diagnosis, it began! And like many otherMSers I am stubbornly determined not to let MS stop me living a full and wonderful life. Although I may have embraced MS, that doesn’t mean I don’t find it inconvenient, annoying, and painfully stupid! I may haveMS but MS does not haveme!
I recognize my path now includes the amazingMS community – encouraging, supporting and loving each other to richer, more fulfilling lives.
