Puketapu auction and fair returns
After being cancelled due to the rain last year, the annual Puketapu Auction and Fair will return to Puketapu Lake this weekend for the fifth time.
A day of food, activities and fun at the lakeside location, it makes for a “lovely day out for families and children,” says Richard Howell of the Taradale Rotary Charitable trust.
Children will be entertained with a fire engine, train, boat and tractor rides while adults can enjoy the 70 stalls which will be selling crafts, food and coffee.
Puketapu parish will also be providing their usual Devonshire tea which Richard says is always enjoyed by attendees.
The event will be held March 8 starting at 10am. Entry is by gold coin donation. One of the highlights of the day is the auction which will be starting at 11am.
Any good quality items such as furniture, plants, machinery and tools can be auctioned off.
The event is expected to be large with roughly 4000 people turning up to the last event in 2018. 100 volunteers will be working the event.
The event is put on by the Taradale Rotary Club and proceeds are given back to the local community.
Previously, funds have helped the group install a defibrillator at the Rissington Fire Brigade, a heat sensing unit at the Taradale Fire Brigade, and a water fountain at a kindergarten in Puketapu.
Richard says his own highlight of the event is getting to spend time at the beautiful lake location filled with tree’s and birdlife.
Puketapu Lake is owned by Roger and Diane Alexander who let the Rotary Club use the location for the event.
