From one stage show to another

Daniel, fresh from playing Marius in the recent Napier Operatic Society’s production of is looking forward to a change in style of music and direction with Grease.

“I guess I’m a sucker for punishment, but I like the camaraderi­e of theatre with many types of different people and my best friend, Eilish Rose, is playing Rizzo. So why not do something you enjoy with the company of friends?”

Daniel played Romeo in a school production which he enjoyed doing, but his love of performing live music in bands took over his career until came along. Daniel currently performs in four bands, teaches music while also juggling family life with little children and completing an IT degree. He has been playing guitar, writing songs, singing and playing in bands for 22 years. He has been a profession­al musician for many years, playing gigs throughout New Zealand to crowds as big as 40,000. Daniel has opened for Eric Clapton, plays for weddings, functions, festivals and at the same time has been producing, recording and mixing for 10 years. Last year alone, Daniel wrote 33 songs and is currently signed up with a publisher and music manager in Auckland.

“I love the devil-may-care attitude of Danny, even though for him it’s just a cover up for his insecuriti­es,” Daniel says.

“The 40-strong cast is very dynamic and is giving 120 per cent to the production. I know that Hawke’s Bay audiences are going to love the vibrant dancing, fantastic singing, the well-known characters and the songs that everyone knows.”
