A huge thank you to the residents of Woodville for conserving water while we fixed the sand filter backwash that caused the plant to drop production, and used a specialist firm to locate subsurface water leaks in the reticulation system. Your assistance has been greatly appreciated. Councillors discussed Woodville Water during their December meeting workshop, and have asked staff to report back in early 2020 on options to increase treated water volumes in the town to cater for urban growth. On the council website the project sheet for the Pahiatua Water Treatment Plant is loaded for those wanting to check the progress. I would also like to express our thanks to the team of staff and suppliers who worked around the clock to ensure Woodville residents had drinking water. Our staff were monitoring and remotely controlling the plant throughout the night, this required a high level of skill and effort. We may face a dry summer this year and we all have a part to play in conserving our water. We have some great staff here at council and I would like to acknowledge the retirement of Colin Veale, our Community Assets and Property Manager for 24 years. Colin is well known and respected in the community and we are grateful for the contribution he has made to the district. In our council agenda this month, is a report on the visit by Veteran Affairs to our service cemeteries throughout the district. They commented they would rank in the top 10 per cent of the country. Thanks, Colin, for your hard work. These comments make us all proud. Our wonderful librarian from Pahiatua Wyn Davidson has celebrated 30 years working for council. Many people have benefited from Wynos passion for books and high level of service. Thank you Wyn.
