We’ll leave no stone unturned – Nyambe

It has been a busy summer for Ryan Nyambe having represented Namibia at the African Cup of Nations, and the versatile right back is ready to contribute to his English Championship club Blackburn Rovers this season.

The full back was an unused substitute on the opening day of the season against Charlton Athletic before picking up concussion in a behind closed doors game against Manchester United.

That meant the 21-year-old could not play in their 2-0

defeat against Fulham, but the Academy graduate was fit and available in their 3-2 win over Oldham Athletic in the Carabao Cup last Tuesday.

“These games can be dangerous,” the defender warned to iFollow Rovers when previewing the encounter.

“You can’t sack games like this off. You need to stay professional, treat the game properly and do the job. You can’t change your mindset. We want to progress to play against teams like Manchester United and Manchester City. We played Bournemouth last season and that was great for us to test ourselves against a Premier League opponent.

“It’s a big squad, the young lads are coming through and we’re all fighting for positions. Everyone’s pushing and working harder than ever to get their place in the team. The manager’s watching and everyone feels that playing well in a game will help you get in the next side that he picks. You need to impress the gaffer.”

Nyambe’s only had a watching brief for the opening two games of the campaign, but insists he’s seen some positive signs from the team.

And he’s urged supporters to stick with the squad, insisting Rovers can get over what he describes as a “rocky start” to the 2019/20 season.

“I’m back to normal now, feel as good as ever and I’m ready to get back playing games,” he beamed.

“It’s been a bit of a rocky start but it’s still early and we just have to keep working. I remember back in League One we lost the first few games and got promoted that season. Football can change quickly and we need to keep positive and stick together.

“I feel we’ve played pretty well in the first two games but we need to be more clinical when we get in good positions,” he added.

“Winning is all you want. It gives you confidence when you do that and if we win against Oldham it’ll give us a good boost for the Championship campaign. We’ll be aiming to correct the negatives and get that positive vibe back around the place.”
