Etunda hostel kitchen needs N$8 million for completion
ETUNDA – Etunda Primary School hostel kitchen, which is being constructed on a farm belonging to the Founding President, Sam Nujoma, outside Otavi, needs N$8 million to complete. The project on Friday received a donation of N$100 000 from Erongo RED. The school is situated on Etunda Trust Farm some 30 kilometres south of Otavi in the Otjozondjupa Region. Nujoma on Friday said the construction of the hostel kitchen has commenced with the casting of the concrete floor foundation. The founding president said, according to the architectural drawings of this modern kitchen connected to the school hostel hall, N$8 million is needed for it to be fully completed. “Indeed, more resources are still needed before I can hand over this facility to Government for it to provide our children with quality education,” said Nujoma. He also expressed satisfaction with phases one and two of the project, consisting of the construction of classrooms, two teachers’ houses and a multi-purpose school hall. Once completed, the school will offer Grade 1 to Grade 7, largely for the children of farm labourers in the area around Farm Etunda. Nujoma thanked Erongo RED for the donation towards the project. “I also urge other stakeholders to partner with us in complementing Government efforts in educating our people,” he said. Erongo RED Chief Executive Officer, Fessor Mbango on his part said the donation from his company forms part of its corporate social responsibility. “The school and clinic projects on this farm have made us see and appreciate the love Nujoma has for our children and their wellbeing,” said Mbango. Mbango and other officials during the visit toured parts of the completed school classrooms, operational clinic and hostel block.
