ITS hosts 18th Annual International Circle Conference

-

The Institute of Tourism Studies hosted the 18th annual Circle Conference, titled Higher Education & Tourism: Post Pandemic Trends.

Circle International was formed in 2003 to bring together university academics from Europe and beyond who shared a passion for research within different business and management topics. Each year a conference is held where many of the published papers are presented.

This year the annual conference was hosted in Malta by the Institute of Tourism Studies. The conference focused on the consequences the pandemic has left on Higher Education and Tourism and Hospitality. This conference acted as an attempt to actively contribute to finding scientific and realistic solutions to these two important sectors through panel discussions that brought together academics and practitioners. The panel addressed the imbalances caused by the pandemic to the economic, social, political and cultural dimensions. Working together has yielded a better chance to find a solution.

ITS COO-Academia Prof. Glen

Farrugia expressed that “It was an honour for the Institute of Tourism Studies to host the world-renowned Circle International for their 18th Conference. The outcomes of such an event shall not only contribute towards an increased academic exposure to the Institute’s research work, but it will also serve as an eyeopener for key stakeholders to continue working towards quality and sustainable Tourism and its education.”

Dean of Circle International, Dr Mohamed El-Ansari stated that “Circle International is delighted to collaborate with the Institute of Tourism Studies and host in Malta the 18th Annual Conference – Higher Education & Tourism: Post Pandemic Trends. I hope the event impacts positively to the higher education and tourism sectors. The scientific and rigour approach was demonstrated through the papers presented and over many discussions. We had opportunities to see how Malta is an amazing country for tourism and hospitality and many delegates are excited to visit again. I too look forward to further collaboration with ITS.”
