Mosta Shaggys win Aroma KO

-

Mosta Shaggys won their fourth cup from five in the Masters Football season when they beat Melita Celtics 10-8 in the final of the Aroma KO.

However, one must also congratulate Melita for the improvement shown, and with the inclusion of some new players next season they will be a very strong competitive team next season.

In the final, Melita played well in the first half and were leading 4-3, showing good football with Thomas Ellis scoring two and goalkeeper Sean Sullivan denying the opponents on several occasions.

However, in the second half Melita surprised everybody. They were a completely a different team. They were dominated, and but were also finding difficulty to advance find the way to goal. Mosta captain Jeffrey Chetcuti produced an impressive performance in defence, whilst Ancic Zelcior again showed nice touches scoring two and being dangerous on several occasions.

Great season

Another successful Masters Football season has just ended with a record number of teams.

As from next season, there will be two divisions, the Premier League and Division One. The system of promotion and relegation will be introduced.

Several players who had a very successful career with MFA Premier Division clubs, are very happy that this association was founded, giving them the opportunity to get themselves back to play competitive football.

Players like Malcolm Licari, Carlo Mamo, Gilbert Scerri, Charlo Magro, Brian Said all commented favourably and showied their appreciation for what the association is doing.

Mosta won four competitions from five with Zabbar St. Patrick winning the pre season tournament.

It was also a successful season for the national teams, with the 40+ squad reaching the final of the first edition of the Malta Cup, losing only on penalties. Now the team is looking forward for the first participation abroad, as it has been invited by the first team based in Belgium FC Irlande.

The next season is expected to start with the Tools Planet pre season tournament at the end of August.
