Easy win for Mellieha

Mellieha cruised to an easy victory when they beat already safe Attard by three goals to one in the first match at the Charles Abela Stadium.

The goals came from Charles Ikennaon 23’, Niki Farrugia on 26’ and Ryan Cutajar on 64’ for Mellieha with Firaz Aboulezz scoring a consolatio­n goal for Attard.

Zejtun Corinthian­s continued their championsh­ip ambitions with a 2-0 victory over now relegated Ghaxaq. Adrian Carabott and Neil Tabone scored for Zejtun on 33 and 38 minutes.

In the first match at the Sirens Stadium, Marsaxlokk gained an important point in their relegation battle when they drew 0-0 against Swieqi United.

In an important relegation clash, Gudja United kept their hopes alive and beat St George’s 2-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Cleaven Portelli opened the score after 25 minutes but Dylan Caruana equalised from the penalty spot on 77 minutes. Elton Bugeja scored the winning goal in stoppage time.

Qrendi kept their championsh­ip hopes alive when they beat Zabbar St Patrick by a Giovanni Galea goal on 71 minutes.

Mgarr United and Siggiewi drew 1-1 in the second match at the Sirens Stadium. Lazar Doric gave Mgarr United the lead after 25 minutes with Sam Vella equalising for Siggiewi on 65 minutes.

In the Friday night match, San Gwann kept their championsh­ip hopes alive when they beat Birzebbuga St Peters in a thrilling encounter. Birzebbuga went two goals ahead with a Keith Muscat penalty and a strike from Ronnie Celeste but San Gwann came back through Sergio Hili, Abeeb Williams and deep in stoppage time, Nezar Fausi Abouhaishi­a.
