Maltese restaurants to be promoted directly in Sicily

-

Maltese restaurants and fine cuisine outlets will soon find a new means of promotion in Sicily following the expansion of one of Italy’s most respected restaurant guide magazines: Sicilia da Gustare.

The Sicilian restaurant pocket guide widely distributed across Sicily and other Italian cities will now include a section on Maltese restaurants, giving a much wider promotional base to the restaurants that make it in the magazine.

The guide is the brainchild of Carmelo Pagano, a Sicilian entrepreneur who hails from the town of Pachino in Sicily, which was founded in the 18th century with many Maltese immigrants settling there. Carmelo says that many Maltese surnames such as Borg, Azzopardi and Sacco are found in the village till this day and age.

“The guide will be the first publishing product with a dominant position both for importance and dissemination, able to integrate two beautiful lands close to each other,” says Carmelo who is currently visiting Malta to promote the pocket magazine.

This will be the fifth publication of ‘Sicilia da Gustare’ and the new edition, which will include Maltese restaurants, will again be distributed with Il Sole 24 Ore Italy’s top financial newspaper published by Confindustria – Italy’s organisation for businesses. It will be also distributed in Malta with The Malta Independent following an agreement reached with Standard Publications Ltd that publishes this daily newspaper.

The guide describes the most typical and prestigious products, places and restaurants, which celebrate and enhance the resources of our territories.

The pocket magazine gained instant popularity and Carmelo decided to publish a book with the best recipes from chefs all over Sicily. The book is in its third print-run and will soon be on sale in Malta’s leading book stores.
