Valletta, Hamrun maintain pace

Valletta and Hamrun maintained their good form of late in the Gatorade Futsal League after obtaining handsome wins in their respective encounters.

Valletta had a straightforward 18-1 victory over Swieqi Under 21 to resume the challenge with leaders Luxol.

As expected, the champions dominated possession for long stretches and rarely gave any chance to their opponents to hit on the counter.

Valletta had their Brazilian striker Raphinha in scintillating form netting 7 goals. He also created continuous danger to the Swieqi rearguard.

Denis di Maio confirmed his scoring prowess as he hit a hattrick while Xavier Saliba, Daniel Aguilera and Jovica Milijic were twice on the mark.

On the other hand, Dylan Musu and Rodrigo Ticz Patricio rubberstamped Valletta’s victory.

Swieqi’s unique reply came from Luca Zarb.

Meanwhile, Everton Veve chalked up two goals as Hamrun Tre Angeli kept up their play-off challenge with a hard-earned 5-2 victory over Safi San Lorenzo.

Hamrun kept command for long stretches of the match and some timely interventions from Safi keeper Christian Lia denied them from more goals.

Besides Veve’s two goals, Alex Ellul, Daniel Mifsud and Cleaven Portelli also put their names on the score sheet for Hamrun.

Alexei Saliba and Leonard Zammit scored Safi’s consolation goals.

A great performance by Serbian duo Uros Markovic and Radovan Duric helped Sliema maintain their good form of late after seeing off Msida 5-2.

Duric netted a brace while Markovic, Darren Airchinson and Nikolay Filipov were the other goal-getters for the Wanderers. Liam Cachia and George Frendo scored the consolation goals for the Seasiders.

Swieqi FC found no difficulty to dispose of Tarxien JMI 14-0 while Mrieħel registered their second win on the trot after stunning University of Malta 4-0.

Zurrieq Wolves chalked up their first victory in the league after they won their relegation clash with Marsascala Construct Furniture 3-0.

Zurrieq opened strongly as they surged into a 2-0 half-time lead courtesy of Andrew Attard and Steve Sadowski while Alistair Camilleri sealed the issue for his team.
