Marsa gain their second victory of the season

Marsa 2 Vittoriosa S 0 With a goal in each half Marsa obtained their second victory of the season defeating Vittoriosa in a low profile match. Marsa fully deserved their victory as they now join Melita and Zebbug on the sixpoint mark at the bottom of the table.

Marsa took only eighty seconds to open the score when a melee ensued in front of goal with Scorfna’s shot cleared off the goal line, but Lucky Omerou was on hand to drill the ball home.

Vittoriosa hit back with a Petar Mrvic header missing the target and on ten minutes an Elland Vella close range effort was blocked by Mercieca.

On 13 minutes Vittoriosa had a good move with Duncan Pisani passing towards Arber Dhrami who hit the side netting when well placed. Vittoriosa created some pressure on the Marsa fort but goalkeeper Caruana was never called to make daring saves.

Six minutes from time Marsa’s Yessous Camilleri had a free header in front of goal but he completely missed the target and just before the break substitute Lincoln Micallef blasted the ball over the bar from ten meters.

On the resumption Yessous Camilleri tested Mercieca with a header and on the other end a Liam Gauci freekick went off target.

On the hour Sakurai passed towards Micallef whose effort was blocked by a defender and from the resultant corner Lucky Omerou’s effort slightly missed the base of the upright.

Half way through the second half, substitute Steve Agius fired a missile for the top corner, but Caruana made an impressive save. Six minutes from time Marsa sealed the issue with a second goal when substitute Luis Andre De Melo Lima dribbled his way past a couple of defenders before firing past a helpless Mercieca.
