-

The Miss Universe Malta competition culminated with the spectacular crowning of Martha Fenech from St. Julian’s on Saturday night.

The twenty-five year-old beauty defeated the other 23 contestants during the live broadcast on television.

Martha, who was representing her locality St Julian’s, also won the Miss Personality title. She was followed by Christine Mifsud from Fgura in second place and Dajana Laketic from Swatar in third place. All three gave an outstanding performance.

Malta will be making its return in the biggest international beauty pageant Miss Universe after an absence of fifteen years, the last Maltese representative competing in 2001.

During the finale, the contestants modelled in their evening gowns and swimsuits whilst they were narrowed down into 15 semi-finalists, which later became 10, down to 5 and ending up with the top 3 candidates, who had to undergo the engaging final set of questions round.

Martha will now have to prepare herself for the international Miss Universe pageant in which will she compete with more than 90 other candidates from all over the globe.

As the reigning Miss Universe Malta she was awarded with the biggest prizes package ever given in a beauty pageant on the Maltese Islands, including a campaign for Inglot which will be distributed in over 500 outlets in over 100 countries in all the five continents. She will also have a whole year packed with incredible activities, television appearances and interviews on local magazines and newspapers.

The Miss Universe Malta license holders and organisers are Alan J. Darmanin and Jeff Francalanza from Glow Promotions who have been in the industry for the past 11 years.
