Cash woes for P. Ramlee film

RM150,000 needed to finish post-production, says director

- Ramlee.

FILM director Megat Sharizal Mohamed Yusoff said he would need RM150,000 in funding to complete the post-production for his P. Ramlee movie Mencari

He told Utusan Malaysia that he needed to fund the technical costs such as audio, computer image generation, film scores and music licensing.

“The editing process is over but we had to postpone the postproduction due to a lack of funds.

“We need at least RM150,000 to complete the film. The amount does not include marketing and promotion costs.

“Since the film is set in 1973, it is costly to bring the period to life through the location, outfits and props, causing the costs to increase,” he said.

The film is a fictionalised tale of the legendary star Tan Sri P. Ramlee’s downfall in the 1970s.

The film previously received a Digital Content Fund of Rm1mil from the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia to kickstart its production.

The movie stars Tony Eusoff, Sofia Jane and Mimi Lana, featuring special appearances by Beto Kusyairy, Amerul Affendi, Bront Palarae and Sharifah Amani.

> Former Melodi reporter Muhammad Zamzuri Zaini, also known as Ayau, died while waiting for the remains of his motherin-law on Sunday.

Ayau’s ex-wife Alita Aris said the 50-year-old was at Masjid Al-mujahideen in Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya.

“Muhammad Zamzuri Zaini passed away at 10am. Ayau was at the mosque waiting for my late mother’s remains.

“He suddenly collapsed due to a heart attack. We brought him to KPJ Damansara Hospital ... but it was too late,” she was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.

Ayau’s remains were brought to Masjid Nurul Hidayah in Kampung Pandan, Kuala Lumpur, for funeral prayers and was buried in Tanah Perkuburan Islam Bukit Permai, Ampang.
