ABOUT 100,000 people are expected to visit the Sunway Golden Jubilee Mega Roadshows that will be held in four locations nationwide.

Sunway Group chief executive officer (digital and strategic investment) Evan Cheah said the roadshows, which kicked off at Sunway Carnival Mall in Penang on Feb 21, offered many good and exclusive deals for the people as the group commemorates its 50th anniversary.

At the roadshow at Aeon Mall Kinta City, Ipoh, Cheah said folk had started queueing up even before the mall opened its door to get their hands on the limited-time promotions for its theme parks, hotels and shopping malls.

“On the first day alone, we had about 5,000 people turning up at the mall.

“Some started queueing up as early as 7.30am, with the line snaking to the back of the mall,” he said, adding that the situation continued until 9.30pm.

“Our next roadshow will be held at Sunway Pyramid Mall, which will be on a larger scale.

“We had about 70,000 people visiting our roadshows nationwide last year and we are expecting about 100,000 this year,” he added.

The roadshow at Sunway Pyramid Mall will be held from Feb 29 to March 3, while the final one is taking place at Sunway Big Box Mall in Iskandar Puteri, Johor from March 5 to March 10.

Cheah said among the deals and discounts at the roadshows included Sunway Lagoon annual passport renewal at RM168 and a new subscription for the Lost World of Tambun Hot Springs and Night Park annual pass at RM50 for Perak folk.

“People also stand to win daily lucky draw prizes worth more than RM500,000,” he said.

“There will also be a grand prize at each leg of the roadshow.”

Cheah added that more exclusive deals could be redeemed on the Sunway Super App.

The roadshow, he said, served as a gesture of appreciation to communities nationwide for their support throughout Sunway’s 50-year journey.

“Sunway started different businesses not just for profits, but to cater to people’s needs.

“Throughout the past 50 years, we have touched the lives of countless people from different walks of life and will continue to innovate for future generations to come,” he said.

“In celebrating our milestone, we will also be ramping up several corporate social responsibility initiatives in line with its commitment to do well by doing good and to leave no one behind.”

Cheah said during Ramadan, Sunway would be working with several non-governmental organisations, including its long-term partner Malaysian AIDS Foundation, in bringing the Sinar Ramadan festive cheer initiative to underserved communities in Malaysia.

“In July, Sunway The Good Run will return and we will welcome more than 10,000 runners in this one-of-a-kind running and fundraising event.

“Proceeds from the three categories of runs, 5km, 10km and 20km, will be distributed to 50 charity homes nationwide.”

Cheah said Sunway would also pledge to pack over 500,000 meals at its annual Meal Pack-athon drive in September for underprivileged communities in Malaysia and abroad.

“These packed meals, which add to Sunway’s overall goal to pack two million meals by 2024, will go towards alleviating hunger and addressing food security among Orang Asli communities, orphanages, old folks homes and B40 communities in the region,” he added.
