> Night market pain

Post-MCO (movement control order), night markets should not be allowed to operate in residential areas. This has been an ongoing issue with residents whose homes are blocked by these traders. If allowed, they should be situated in open spaces and they should follow stringent cleanliness and rubbish disposal rules. And operation times should be shortened, as 10pm is too late in the night.

> Post-pandemic planning

With incentives for domestic tourism under the economic recovery plan, KTMB (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd) must promote rail travel. Take the ETS (Electric Train Service) to the next level with top notch amenities and shorter travel time. The Komuter service should capitalise on the monthly unlimited public transport pass and more dieselelectric multiple units services for intercity travel. – PJ Gomes

> No forward movement

It has been more than 60 years since we became independent but it looks like our nation is moving backwards. We have political, economic, financial, educational, health, racial, religious and many other internal problems. Are our politicians really working hard to move our country forward? > Rate balance

On “Banks can do more” (The Star, Text Us, June 3), it has to be noted that fixed deposit (FD) rates are low now. One wonders if the burden of one sector has been passed to another. Retirees put their money in FDs and use the interest earned as their income. We do not know how profitable the banks are but we hope they will be fair and find the right balance.

> Cash is king

Cash is legal tender when used in exchange for goods or services. Other forms or methods, such as e-payment, are only an option and cannot replace the use of cash if either party in a transaction prefers payment in cash. Therefore, bills for public utility services, being mandatory services, ought to continue to be issued for customers who do not have optional facilities so that they can pay with cash at any bill collection or payment centre. Similarly, cash or prepaid coupons should be acceptable for parking in public locations and car parks inside buildings. – Currency Right
