KUCHING: The Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) here has received much-needed medical equipment from Star Media Group’s (SMG) Star Frontliners Initiative.

Ten infusion pumps and five patient monitors were delivered to the hospital under the initiative by Star Foundation.

Receiving the items yesterday, SGH director Dr Ngian Hie Ung expressed appreciation for the contribution.

“We are very thankful. Star Foundation has been very supportive of our patient care, especially Covid-19 patients,” she said.

Dr Ngian said patient monitors and infusion pumps were basic items that patients needed.

“They may seem to be small items but are very important to ensure the patient is taken care of appropriately.

“These are items that we always need. They can be used for all patients, but at this time priority will be for Covid-related patients,” she said.

She emphasised that every contribution was helpful to the hospital, whether infusion pumps or patient monitors or other medical equipment.

“Donors can find out from the hospital what equipment we need. We really appreciate all contributions,” she said.

The Star Frontliners Initiative was launched by SMG to raise funds for the purchase of medical supplies and personal protective equipment for hospitals and medical staff nationwide battling Covid-19.

SMG kick-started the fund on March 25 with a RM1mil pledge. The campaign wrapped up on April 25, with items continuing to be purchased and donated.
