Catch her if you can as cyclist Nur Aisyah rides to her second gold

-

NUR AISYAH MOHAAMAD ZUBAIR has issued a chaallenge to other cyclists in the Maalaysia Games (Sukma).

The Terengganu lass is in smashing form as she won her second gold in the girls’ 80km individual road race at the Arena Square Batu Kurau yesterday.

She broke away from the other riders in the last 900 metres before crossing the finishing line in three hours and 40 seconds.

On Wednesday, she won the 30km individual time trial event at the same venue.

Sarawak’s Nur Azrenna Ahmad Jumry bagged the silver by clocking 3’00:41 while another Terengganu rider Sharifah Nur Ilyana Syed Zulkifi settled for bronze, also in 3’00:41.

The 21-year-old Nur Aisyah said she has set a personal target of winning seven golds and she’s in good form to achieve it.

“I did well to win the first two and this is a good start for me. But I will only be happy with my achievements if I can achieve my target,” said Nur Aisyah.

She added that she has issued a challenge to other cyclists to beat her for gold in the remaining five events.

“This is my last Sukma and I want to finish it by being the best woman cyclist in Sukma history,” said Nur Aisyah, who won five golds in the last Sukma in Kuching in 2016.

In Kuching, she won the individual and team road race and individual and team time trial and also the criterium race.

There is no rest for Nur Aisyah as she will compete in the 50km criteri- um race at Taman Tasik in Taiping.

“I hope I can maintain my stamina to go for my third gold in another energy-snapping criterium race,” said Nur Aisyah, who will then switch to track events.

The Kemaman-born lass will also compete in the keirin, 10km scratch race, 3km individual pursuit and team pursuit.
