MCA kicks off Perak campaign
More than 8,000 turn up to show their support for party
IPOH: MCA held a show of force as it kicked off its Perak general election campaign with more than 8,000 people turning up.
With the support from the boisterous crowd of party members and representatives from non-governmental organisations, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai launched a blistering attack on Pakatan Harapan.
The MCA president called on members to work hard to expose Pakatan’s true colours.
He said Pakatan parties, especially DAP, have major flaws that all Malaysians must see.
Firstly, Pakatan is not a coalition which can work together as each component party has its own agenda, he said.
“They have no principles in their political struggle but flip-flop when disagreements occur.
“They are always negative and tend to play with sentiment to incite hatred,” he said at the Ipoh Convention Centre here.
Also present were his deputy Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, vice-presidents Datuk Lee Chee Leong and Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan, Wanita chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie, Youth chief Datuk Chong Sin Woon and Perak state chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.
Liow noted that Perak MCA is contesting in seven parliamentary and 15 state seats in the general election.
“The polls is very near now and a list containing the names of our proposed candidates have been submitted to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak earlier.
“Discussions are underway and let us wait for the final list from the Prime Minister,” he added.
Liow also said DAP was arrogant for saying it wants to decimate MCA during the polls.
“Such a war cry only shows how arrogant DAP has become and how it has disregarded its supposed mission to serve the people.
“They have gone the wrong way and are now willing to do anything, including resorting to dirty tactics,” he said.
It was reported in January that Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching of DAP had used a strident Chinese term, wei jiao (destroy), to describe her party’s quest to wipe out MCA.
However, DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang denied in February that the party wanted to destroy MCA.
