Mobile app to promote Tangkak as eco-tourism spot
JOHOR BARU: A mobile app, in the form of a game, has been launched to promote Tangkak as an eco-tourism destination in Johor.
Called HamimYokk Ledang, the game features Ledang MP Datuk Hamim Samuri as its main character.
The game, designed to highlight interesting attractions in Tangkak, gives players the opportunity to enter the wonderful world of Tangkak town, Bukit Gambir, Serom as well as the popular Gunung Ledang area.
Players are required to collect Aspiration Gems to move to the next level while avoiding moving cars, buses, wild deer, signboards, and other obstacles as they stroll through the beautiful area of Tangkak, which sits within the Ledang parliamentary constituency.
The idea for the game, where players use the skills of running, dashing, jumping, sliding and dodging obstacles while getting support and cheers from local people along the way, was first mooted by Hamim, who is also Deputy Natural Resources and Environment Minister.
He said the game, with the slogan “Ledang Tangkak Luar Biasa” or The Remarkable Ledang Tangkak, featured local attractions such as the Tangkak bus station, mosques, Kupang Tangkak and cendol stalls.
“The presentation of the popular places in the game was one of the efforts to help promote tourism destinations in the district.
“What is more interesting about the game is that players will have the opportunity to share their high scores with their friends on social media,” he said.
He also said the game, which had been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records, would also feature the main character meeting with supporters who helped him on each successful stage before moving to the next round.
“Through this mobile game app, Tangkak will be recognised and known as an eco-tourism destination in the country,” he said, adding that the game was suitable for all ages.
