KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Vida spent three weeks to look for concept ideas for her I Am Me music video. She even went to Thailand and Hong Kong to get chicken feather costumes as she wanted it to be different from the rest.

Vida, whose real name is Hasmiza Othman, 46, said that mockeries and parodies of the I Am Me song lyrics (which sounded like “Ayam Me” or “Ayam Mee”) had inspired her to use the feathers as part of the costume.

“The thing that people mocked and made parody of gave me the idea and I went to Thailand and Hong Kong to buy chicken feather costume appliques which were used by my dancers.

“My strategy is not only focused on fans and local listeners but also on promoting it overseas,” she said during the music video launch at Red Box, Pavilion here on Wednesday.

The video, which cost RM1mil to produce, was directed by film director Ghaz Abu Bakar. It was shot at Vida’s residence in Ipoh, and was based on the concept of luxury, glamour and determination.

“With Ghaz’s expertise as a film director, he succeeded in realising my imagination for the music video,” she said.

Vida also planned to auction off the items such as jewellery, costumes and branded handbags that were used in the video.

She said proceeds from the sale would be used to pump funds into building a tahfiz school in Kelantan.

“InsyaAllah (God willing) if there is no hindrance, I plan to do the auctions at the end of this year.

“The items that I want to sell are not secondhand items but are all brand new,” she assured.
