PETALING JAYA: Veteran Danny Chia finished a creditable joint 10th at the TAKE Solutions Masters in Bengaluru, India.

The 44-year-old carded a one-under 70 in the final round at the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) golf course yesterday to share 10th spot with five others on six-under 278. Danny pocketed US$4,813 (RM20,600) for his efforts.

The inaugural championship was won by Thailand’s Poom Saksansin. The former SEA Games gold medallist closed with 67 to

complete a wire-to-wire victory on 16-under 268, two strokes ahead of Indian Khalin Joshi.

It was Danny’s second straight top 10 finish on the Asian Tour after tying for ninth at the Queen’s Cup in Thailand in June.

The two-time Asian Tour win-

ner is on a comeback trail after struggling in the first half of the season.

Prior to the Bengaluru meet, he was joint second on the Asian Development Tour’s PGM Darulaman Championship and emerged as winner of the CIMB National Championship to qualify for the US PGA Tour’s CIMB Classic in October.

Meanwhile, Queen’s Cup champion Nicholas Fung came back strongly in the last two rounds to claim a share of 26th place. The 27-year, who made the weekend rounds just two shots above the cut line, shot a 69 and 68 to claim US$2,730 (RM11,700).

National No. 1 Gavin Kyle Green was also in action but failed to make the cut in the 150man field.

The next Asian Tour stop is the Shinhan Donghae Open in South Korea from Sept 14-17.
