A Lamborghini with a twist
Carjacked Gallardo found — but it does not belong to complainant
SERDANG: A Lamborghini Gallardo, which was allegedly carjacked from a businessman during an accident, has been found.
The yellow sports car was recovered on Thursday night at the Rawang toll plaza along the North-South Expressway, about 40km from where the alleged armed carjacking took place.
However, police says the Lamborghini did not belong to the 31-year-old businessman who reported it stolen.
Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Megat Mohd Aminuddin Megat Alias said they were tracing the real owner.
“We are checking with the Road Transport Department to track down the rightful owner,” he said.
The recovery of the luxury car came about after police set up a task force following a report lodged by the businessman.
ACP Megat Mohd Aminuddin said the businessman had claimed that he was driving the Lamborghini in Puchong on Tuesday midnight when a BMW rammed into its rear.
“He stopped his car. A man got off from the BMW and told the businessman that he had no money to compensate for the damage.
“The Lamborghini driver got out to take a photo of the accident. After both men had finished their discussion, another man got out of the BMW and pointed a parang at the businessman,” he said.
ACP Megat Mohd Aminuddin said the businessman ran to the roadside and the culprits drove off with the Lamborghini.
He lodged the police report soon after. Following the report, police arrested a 52-year-old man at a restaurant along Jalan Radin Bagus, Sri Petaling, on Thursday.
A 47-year-old man was arrested at the Rawang toll plaza later that night.
This led to police retrieving the stolen Lamborghini.
A Lamborghini Kuala Lumpur representative said the Gallardo was discontinued in 2013.
Its starting price was RM1.7mil.
