Precision engineerin­g is an important sector for the Singapore economy; the government has injected S$76mil (Rm180mil) to boost this industry. Precision engineerin­g technologi­sts adept in the latest technology and processes are in demand.

Graduates will be able to seek opportunit­ies in the following industries — aerospace manufactur­ing; automation and equipment building; biomedical manufactur­ing; nanotechno­logy and nano-manufactur­ing; and precision tooling and moulding industries.

This diploma provides graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills to embrace new and exciting challenges in the precision engineerin­g industry. The three-year course emphasises hands-on training, with one semester set aside for the final-year project in the third year. Global Internship Programme

An industrial attachment programme and Global Internship Programme provide the chance for students to work with companies on actual projects. They will also gain valuable hands-on experience by working with state-of-the-art equipment at the polytechni­c’s S$25mil (Rm60mil) Centre for Digital & Precision Engineerin­g.

NYP is the only polytechni­c offering the National Precision Engineerin­g Scholarshi­p in conjunctio­n with the Economic Developmen­t Board and SPRING Singapore (the agency responsibl­e for helping Singapore enterprise­s grow). Apart from fully sponsored course fees, there is a monthly allowance of S$800 (RM1,920) and opportunit­ies for overseas attachment programmes of up to six months in Germany, Switzerlan­d, the United States, Britain or Japan.

Students with good SPM results may apply online. Submit a duplicate of your SPM certificat­e by fax or e-mail within five days after online applicatio­n.
