Studying medicine in Russia

-

DR Tan is a medical officer serving under the Malaysian Ministry of Health in a local general hospital.

Like many other doctors in Malaysia, he is a Russian medical graduate from the Russian State Medical University or better known as the Russian National Research Medical University.

According to Dr Tan, there are many students who wish to pursue their lifelong dream in becoming a doctor but do not have the funds to study in countries such as the UK, the United States or Australia.

On top of that, many top students in SPM and STPM have difficulty getting into medical faculties in local universities.

So, why not consider Russia as a study destination?

Dr Tan himself was once a student seeking a path into the medical world.

“Being one of the top students in my school, I aspired to be a well-known doctor but the road to success wasn’t easy. I did not get the scholarship I had applied for and all the other medical universities, both local and abroad, were very costly.

“Then, I came across Medic Ed. They send students to Russia for medical studies and the tuition fees are affordable. After a lengthy discussion with my parents, I decided to enrol. I have never regretted my decision to study in Moscow,” he said.

Dr Tan shared that the cost of studying medicine locally is high and compared to other countries such as the United States, Western Europe and Australia, the cost of living is much lower in Russia.

The courses are now fully in English, the qualifications the students obtain are internationally recognised and the quality of teaching is comparable to premier institutions in other countries.

Moreover, the quality of studies offered at educational institutes in the region, some of which are hundreds of years old, is more widely recognised now.

“Doctors who graduate from Russian medical schools are just as good as any other doctors. There is no difference between them in terms of quality,” Dr Tan said.

Being a student of Medic Ed Consultant, he enjoyed privileges such as services, welfare and care when studying in Moscow.

“Medic Ed will walk with you every step of the way, from the day you register with them to the day you get your job.

“When I had problems with my hostel, Medic Ed sent representatives to the hostel management in Moscow and managed to settle it in a blink of an eye,” he said.

“Students who had financial difficulty managed to get a full loan for their education in Russia with the help of Medic Ed. With them around, students know that they are in safe hands,” he added.

TMC College, owned by Medic Ed group, offers a direct route into Russian medical universities.

It offers Foundation in Science with the addition of first-year medical subjects, as well as basic Russian Language so that students can communicate with the locals.

Currently, no other colleges offer such a programme.

Medic Ed welcomes students who require consultation and advice regarding their further studies.
