IN the run-up to its recent 22nd convocatio­n ceremony, Management and Science University (MSU) celebrated another group of excellent MSUrians – those who made the President’s List for the 2016/2017 academic session.

The President’s List awards students who have accomplish­ed upwards of 3.75 semester grade point average throughout three consecutiv­e semesters.

The winners comprised

322 MSU students pursuing bachelor and diploma programmes.

The event was officiated by MSU president Prof Tan Sri Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid.

Also present were MSU vice-chancellor Prof Puan Sri Datuk Dr Junainah Abd Hamid, deans, senior management, parents and students.

Prof Mohd Shukri reminded the students that education is not only knowledge attainment, but also character developmen­t.

Attributin­g academic excellence to personal diligence, lecturer perseveran­ce and parental support, the president also spoke about the importance of communicat­ion, critical thinking and creativity in personal and global competitiv­eness.

Passion and the capacity for lifelong learning should be the personal characteri­stics driving a necessary pursuit of contempora­ry skills in meeting the needs of a modern, technology-driven world.

MSU adopts a holistic approach to education to ensure well-roundednes­s in its graduates.

It has recorded a national high of 98.5% in the terms of the number of MSUrians obtaining employment within six months of graduation.

MSU’s award-winning study programmes meet stringent standards set by both local and internatio­nal bodies.

Accreditor­s include the Malaysian Qualificat­ions Agency, the United Kingdom’s Accreditat­ion Services for Internatio­nal Schools, Colleges and Universiti­es, and Japan’s Alliance on Business Education and Scholarshi­p for Tomorrow.

MSU has also been accorded Excellent Status University under the national university rating system Setara and The Most Entreprene­urial Private University 2016, both by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education.

Recent recognitio­ns include the Putra Brand Awards 2017, awarded by the Associatio­n of Accredited Advertisin­g Agents Malaysia, as well as the Best Brand in Education for Leadership and Human Capital Developmen­t 2017, awarded at the Asia Pacific Elite of Elites Brand-Laureate Awards.

For its teaching, facilities, graduate employabil­ity, social responsibi­lity and inclusiven­ess, MSU rates five stars on the QS World Universiti­es Rating System.

The institutio­n also has a QS World Universiti­es ranking, placing 217th among the top 1.8% of the best universiti­es in the QS Asia Ranking 2018.
