A deliciously enduring presence

-

SERVING great food and drinks since 1972, today The Ship owns and operates seven restaurants in the Klang Valley and Penang. The latest addition is now at PJ Centrestage, a notable landmark, at 1, Jalan 13/ 1, Seksyen 13, Petaling Jaya.

In line with its corporate branding, every restaurant bears a visual likeness of a ship and service crews are smartly attired like sailors. Nautical features and artefacts make the ambience unmistakable.

A relaxed, cabin atmosphere makes for enjoyable dining. However, patrons who prefer an open and spacious dining hall will be glad to know The Ship at PJ Centrestage is all that and more.

Among interesting design features in this restaurant is a row of tall glass windows on one side of the dining area. The natural daylight source together with slim pendant lights over the tables make for a well- lighted interior, yet not overwhelming the blue LED ribbon lighting that coolly outlines the beverages counter or spoil the fun of looking up through the ceiling at the starry skies.

Seating options are the familiar captain’s chairs or fancy U- shaped sofas.

On the expanse of one wall can be seen a school of dolphins swimming animatedly, to the delight of patrons.

With a very big floor space of 511sq m ( 5,500sq ft), this restaurant can easily accommodate 200 diners and is ideal for private or corporate group functions. When no fanfare is needed, patrons will appreciate the discreet partition of seating areas.

The menu features a varied and delightful array of delicious cuisines in both Western and Malaysian styles, prepared from traditional recipes using the choicest and freshest ingredients.

This wealth of culinary knowledge and expertise is perfected over many years and has kept The Ship sailing confidently onward for over five decades.

Its team of expertly trained and experienced chefs are charged with consistently maintaining The Ship’s standard of excellent quality that makes the difference between exceptional and ordinary.

High among The Ship’s favourite appetisers are the Rockefeller oysters baked in butter spinach and finely chopped turkey bacon garnish.

For the discerning oyster connoisseur who prefers it au naturel, the choice of air- flown New Zealand oysters, chilled and served with cocktail or Tabasco sauce, is always top choice.

Also greatly savoured is the luscious Escargots Bourguinonne – French snails baked in Chablis garlic sauce.

From the soup tureens come a variety of piping hot, in- house made fresh comfort soups.

Leading the perennial favourites are the rich and creamy US seafood chowder, hot and spicy seafood tom yam and aromatic French baked- onion soup.

With the acclaim of serving “the Best Steak in Town”, surely the star of The Ship’s menu offerings is its range of fine steaks.

Whether rib eye, sirloin, T- bone, fillet Mignon or some other prime cut, every steak is expertly cooked to the precise degree of your preference.

For a heartily delicious meal, the fillet steak flambé on mushroom sauce makes an excellent choice. Another great choice is the barbecued T- bone steak. Steaks are typically complemented with salad or garden fresh vegetables.

Desserts include well- selected varieties of ice cream and ice cream cake and there is specialty coffee to wash it down or for you to sit back, relax and sip slowly.
