STUDYEXCEL’S annual Australian Education Fair is back. The event will start on April 24 ( Friday), at StudyExcel Subang Jaya Office, followed by April 25 ( Saturday), at Jen Hotel, Penang, April 26 ( Sunday), at Armada Hotel, Petaling Jaya and April 27 ( Monday) at Grand Paragon Hotel, Johor Baru.

Students unsure of what to study are encouraged to take a career interest profiling exercise. Visitors can check out Australian universiti­es offering scholarshi­ps for the June/ July 2015 intake and as January/ February 2016 intake. Students can bring their forecast results for assessment and receive an immediate offer where possible.

TAFE ( Technical and Further Education) courses

The demand for vocational studies is on the rise. Some institutio­ns offer a one- year diploma course incorporat­ing Certificat­e IV ( equiv-

alent to a Pre- U or Foundation programme). Upon completion, students can gain credit exemption into the second year of an undergradu­ate degree programme.

Students can check out TAFE Tasmania and TAFE Brisbane at the fair. For culinary and hospital- ity programmes, William Angliss Institute ( WAI) and Le Cordon Bleu Sunway will also be there.

Undergradu­ate and postgradua­te programme

Although some universiti­es have higher tuition fees, others are still affordable. The highlight is an Australian student visa which allows student to work part- time for a total of 40 hours per fortnight. Undergradu­ates will be able to apply for a post- study work visa for two years to continue working fulltime with the opportunit­y to apply for permanent resident status.

Informatio­n on private and government schools for July 2015 and January 2016 intake

The Australian Education Department allows internatio­nal students to study at its government schools. The curriculum tends to emphasise more on sports and skills- based training.
