Bridge project to link Saratok longhouse to kick off in Q2 2025 — Deputy minister

The project to build a bridge to Rumah Jantai in Lubok Nibong Awik, Saratok is now in the consultant­appointmen­t stage, and expected to commence in the second quarter of next year.

Deputy Minister for Infrastruc­ture and Port Developmen­t Sarawak Datuk Aidel Lariwoo said the proposal was approved under Rolling Plan 2 of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) in 2022.

“The land acquisitio­n was approved by the State Planning Authority in December 2023,” he said in the Sarawak Legislativ­e Assembly sitting on Friday, in response to a question from Friday Belik (GPS-Krian) who inquired about the current status of the proposed bridge.

Adding on, Aidel said the scope of works for the project would include the constructi­on of a 70m concrete bridge with a width of 4.5m.

The estimated cost of the project was RM4 million, he said.

To another question from Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa (GPSEngkili­li) on the approved projects for his (Rayong’s) constituen­cy under the Sri Aman Developmen­t Agency, Aidel said two had been approved: the constructi­on of the Sebeliau Nanga Entalau Road, and the proposed Bukong BypassEngk­ilili/Kampung Bulu-Lubok Antu Road.

“Both projects are expected to be tendered by end of the second quarter of 2024,” said Aidel.

Regarding the scope of work sand estimated costs for the Sebeliau Nanga Entalau Road project, Aidel said the scope would include the constructi­on of a new 8km road, with estimated cost of RM68 million.

For the Bukong BypassEngk­ilili/Kampung Bulu-Lubok Antu Road project, Aidel said it would involve the constructi­on of a new 3km road, drainage and streetligh­ts, with estimated cost of RM39.5 million.
