Nyabong asks constituents to review his achievements
KAPIT: Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang has called on his constituents to review his performance since taking office in 2016.
During the official launching of a water supply project for Rumah Budit Along in Nanga Mekey, Merit, Batang Rajang on Monday, Nyabong called on the people to take the election very seriously.
“Think very carefully of the right candidate who could serve and deliver to the constituents. I appeal to you to think twice who to vote for in the coming election. Think very carefully who could serve and deliver effectively to the people.
“This is my first term. I was elected on May 7, 2016. How do you feel under my leadership? This is my fourth year and there have been so many big and small projects implemented in my constituency. I’ve allocated funds and implemented projects to all longhouse JKKKs (village security and development committees), women’s bureaus of the longhouse, schools through parent-teacher associations,” he said.
He observed that as the date for the election draws nearer, more aspiring candidates have appeared in the longhouses to promote themselves.
“This is normal before the election because we practise democracy. Everyone who thinks he is capable and has enough support could offer himself as the candidate. During the election, the voters are to decide the most suitable candidate to be their elected representative for the next five years,” he said.
Nyabong called on the people to continue to support him in the election so that he could continue to serve them.
He called on longhouse folk to form land committees to safeguard their land.
Nyabong also proposed a rural clinic be set up in Nanga Mekey to improve healthcare for the people.
Minister of Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom officiated at the event.
