Only time will tell, says Dr Tiki on joining PSB
KUCHING: Could Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) soon see an addition to its ranks in the person of former Mas Gading MP Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe?
Dr Tiki, who is also former deputy minister of rural and regional development, was a surprise show at the party’s preGawai Dayak dinner here on Sunday, where he sat with the party’s top brass led by party president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, at the main table.
Dr Tiki even joined PSB leaders on stage for the cake-cutting ceremony, prompting reporters to later query him on whether or not his presence at the event meant that he would soon be joining PSB.
“For now, I am still a member of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
“I am not ruling out the possibility of joining PSB. Only time will tell. Just wait for the official announcement,” he said, while pointing out that his presence at the dinner was not an issue.
“I don’t see any problem for me, a Bersatu member, attending an event by PSB. PSB is championing the rights of Sarawakians and I am supporting them in their fight. I am attracted by the party’s vision,” he added.
Dr Tiki also said should he join PSB, he would be doing so in the interest of serving the people to the best of his ability as a politician.
Dr Tiki was the three-term MP for Mas Gading from 1999 to 2013, representing the thenSarawak Progressive Democratic Party (now Progressive Democratic Party) in the thenBarisan Nasional (BN)-led government.
He contested as an independent in the 2013 parliamentary elections, but lost to BN’s Datuk Anthony Nogeh, who himself was defeated by Mordi Bimol of Democratic Action Party (DAP) in last year’s polls.
