Lim’s outburst to cover Pakatan Harapan’s failure — Fazzrudin

-

KUCHING: Par t i Pe saka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) deputy youth chief Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman has claimed that Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng’s ‘ attack’ on the Sarawak government is to cover the failure of Pakatan Harapan ( PH), in particular Democratic Action Party ( DAP), in implementing their promises to Sarawak in the 14th general election.

Lim’s ‘ continuous at tacks’ on the state government could also be seen as his weakness as finance minister after his move to cut the budget for Sarawak and cancelling three bridge projects in Sarawak sparked the anger of the people of Sarawak, he added.

Fazzrudin was also disappointed that Lim went to the extent of alleging that the Sarawak government was lying and spreading defamation on the Tourism Tax in its preparation for the next state election.

“Actually, he ( Lim) tried to hide his failures after treating Sarawak l ike a step chi ld and sparking the anger of Sarawakians. Political polemics must be set aside when it involves the country and the state’s interests.

“The new Malaysia described by Lim is very sad as he is not only unprofessional, but also immature in his responsibilities as a federa l mini s ter. A s the mini ster charged with governing and developing the country and state, this attitude clearly demonstrates Lim’s own arrogance and weakness and he is not qualified to become the minister of finance,” he added.

Fazzruddin also pointed to the most recent case of Lim displaying his weakness as a federal minister when Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak’s Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, only raised issues to the federal government.

In responding to the issues raised by Abdul Karim, Fazzrudin said Lim directly accused Abdul Karim of trying to break down the relationship between the federal and state governments.

“Li m’s a l l e g at ion t h at Sarawak had a debt to the f e der a l g ove r nment a l s o showed his superficiality as the finance minister and he did not understand what he has said. This follows the statement of the Sarawak Chief Minister’s Office of confirming Sarawak’s good record which was also reported by the Auditor- General in its annual report and submitted to the National Finance Council,” he said.

Fazzrudin also pointed out that i f Sarawak wanted to leverage like Lim did, the state could always raise the issue of Sarawak’s natural resources that had been taken by the federal government.
