Rep pays tribute to teachers at STU dinner
KAPIT: The role of teachers in imparting knowledge and skills to students makes them the architect of the nation’s human resources development.
Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit who said this pointed out that the teaching profession contributes more than any other profession in guiding an individual into becoming a successful person, thus contributing to the country’s development.

he said.
He paid tribute to the teaching profession during the annual dinner of Sarawak Teachers Union ( STU) Kapit branch, held here recently, where he presented the branch with a grant of RM5,000.
Jamit added that teachers, especially those serving in rural areas, have a special standing in the community as they are considered learned persons.
He said apart from imparting knowledge, teachers should also place emphasis on the importance of having good discipline and high morals.
He also assured that the government is always sensitive to the needs of teachers and the challenges faced by them, particularly those serving in rural schools, and will continuously strive to improve facilities.
STU Kapit branch chairperson Kunchi Bantin and STU central zone vice president Adam Prakash Abdullah also spoke during the event.
