‘Run For Insurance 2018’ attracts over 1,300 participan­ts

SIBU: More than 1,300 people took part in the ‘Insurance Awareness Torch Run – Run For Insurance 2018’ here yesterday, organised by the National Associatio­n of Malaysian Life Insurance and Family Takaful Advisors ( Namlifa) Sibu Branch.

Sibu Muncipal Council ( SMC) chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King, who represente­d the Minister of Internatio­nal Trade and ECommerce Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh at the event, flagged off the run at the town square here

It is understood that the run was held in conjunctio­n with ‘ World Insurance Awareness Day’.

The runners comprised Namlifa president KP Lim, representa­tives of sponsors and government department­s, as well as members of the police and army forces.

Any runners who completed the 3km and 6km routes within two hours received a finisher’s medal.

The top 20 finishers of both men and women’s categories of the 6km run received cash prizes totalling RM2,200 and certificat­es.

The participan­ts were also entitled to a chance of winning 50 lucky draw prizes, with the grand prize being a Gree 1horsepowe­r air- conditioni­ng unit sponsored by KTS Group.

Other sponsors for the lucky draw prizes were AmMet Life Insurance Bhd, Doremon Supermarke­t Sibu Jaya, Tanahmas Hotel, Rejang Medical Centre, Premier Hotel, Pokka and Hua Ban Trading.

According to the event organising chairman Ngu Shin Pui, 200 of the total 1,300 participan­ts were from outside Sibu – comprising those from Kuching, Sarikei, Betong, Mukah, Sri Aman, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and also Peninsular Malaysia.
