Zuraida calls for quick action over allegations of wrongdoing in PKR elections

-

PKR Women’s chief Zuraida Kamaruddin yesterday called for serious and quick action against the allegations of wrongdoing in the just- concluded PKR divisional elections to avoid any further delay in the election process.

She called on the leaders in the party to stop living in denial when serious allegations have been made against the party and the elections in some places have yet to be completed.

The allegations relate to claims of money politics, missing votes and even the use of jammers to sabotage the election process, she said.

“I am not surprised that it (the election) has been done early in other places.

“I was so surprised that they had to cancel the Kuala Selangor election which is very demoralising for the people in Kuala Selangor because they have made arrangements and preparations and it takes a lot of effort... then we have to redo, it is very unacceptable,” she said when met by reporters at the Parliament lobby.

Zuraida was asked to comment on the party’s decision to cancel the Kuala Selangor divisional election on Sunday after the alleged use of a jammer to sabotage the election process.

She did not rule out the possibility of a fresh election in Melaka following a report of missing votes due to a weak Internet connection.

“We also don’t know what is going to happen in Sabah and Sarawak where there are rural areas in the interior of Sabah and Sarawak where the ( Internet) coverage is bad and they say they are going to do offline.

“I am very skeptical. It might cause more problems (and) more delay in the election,” she said.

On talk that several Umno MPs will join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia ( Bersatu), an ally of PKR in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) ruling coalition, Zuraida said it will be among the matters to be discussed at the PH meeting on Saturday.
