Vote BN so that you won’t be neglected, Penguang tells longhouse folk
TINJAR, Baram: The people of Tinjar in Baram will face another five years of neglect if they are to vote for the opposition in this 14th general election (GE14), cautioned Marudi assemblyman Datu Dr Penguang Manggil.
He hoped the constituents would realise by now that some areas here had experienced slow development as a result of not being on the side of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.
“Therefore, do not repeat the same mistake. Do not place your future at high risk by voting for the opposition,” he said when addressing a ‘meet-the-people’ programme here Friday.
Organised by Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Marudi, the programme is held to enable leaders to meet residents of four Kayan and Iban longhouses they have not visited - Long Spilling, Rh Hillary Jungang Long Ajai, Rh Ricky Marai Nanga Lait and Rh Labang Nanga Seridan.
Penguang was accompanied by about 50 BN supporters and this was their first journey on an express boat to meet the voters in the constituency.
Penguang, who is also Assistant Minister for Local Government, said voters need to think about the long term effect of their votes.
“May 9 is a time to show your support to the government,” he said.
Penguang expressed confidence that residents of Tinjar under the Marudi constituency would support BN.
“We are optimistic that voters in Marudi will bring victory to Baram parliamentary constituency. We hope such support will be translated into a win with stronger majority,” he added.
