Mara selects Kapit for Edu Biz Park

-

KUCHING: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) will develop an Edu Biz Park in Kapit.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said every state in Malaysia would have an Edu Biz Park.

“Mara has identified Kapit as the site for the Edu Biz Park. Every state will have this programme and in Sarawak we decided to have it in Kapit. We want to give it to other divisions and Kapit has not had one even though a vocational school has been approved to be set up there,” he told reporters after launching the state-level EduXtra 2018 yesterday.

He explained that Mara and Kolej Professional Mara (KPM) will collaborate with the ministry in implementing the project.

Nanta said the Edu Biz Park would not be “hardcore technical” as it would also be for students interested in accountancy.

“If we want to do it fast, we rent a shoplot first to run it and later identify a site for a proper campus,” he said, adding it all depended on the plans of the ministry and relevant agencies.

“It is flexible. Mara is responsible for educational and entrepreneurship development, so we collaborate with each other and hope that we can implement it.”

Nanta also said Mara is in the midst of conducting research on setting up a digital mall.

“Four states are having this digital mall now, and we aim at having one each in all the states,” he said.

Nanta added the proposed digital mall for Sarawak would most probably be set up here because Kuching has the largest market in the state with many educational and business institutions.
