KDU engineering alumni symposium provides industrial insights
KUCHING: Students of Kolej Damansara Utama ( KDU) were given an insight into the real world at the School of Engineering Alumni Symposium held at their flagship campus at Utropolis, Glenmarie on Oct 5 last year.
In a press statement from KDU, the one- day event saw five invited alumni speakers from five different industry sectors, primarily in construction, power electrical, electronic, manufacturing and information technology, impart their knowledge and insights on how to be successful in the challenging industry.
The speakers, who have more than 10 years of industrial experience each, were Nanda Kumar Pathmanathan, Sivasangaran Janggayah, Tan Beng Sen, Hariharan Mahadhavan and Victor Goh Wei Te.
The symposium aimed to comprehensively discuss the current technology in a rapidly evolving industrial landscape, and the transition towards Industry 4.0, where robots will replace humans.
The speakers also touched on the four major disciplines of engineering – mechanical, electrical, electronic and mechatronic.
The event was conducted in a forum style where the floor was open for students to ask each speaker relevant questions and for extensive discussion to benefit the participants.
“The alumni attest to the evolution and transformation of KDU in producing quality graduates who are willing to contribute to the society.
“It is indeed a very proud moment for KDU to witness our graduates doing exceptionally well in the challenging industry nowadays,” said KDU University deputy vice-chancellor (academic) Assoc Prof Dr Hon Wei Min.
“For the alumni to be here today is considered highly valuable as the students could utilise this session to ask important questions and get the fi rst-hand experience from the top players in the industry,” she added.
As a testimony to KDU’s dedication and commitment to its brand and academic excellence, the institution was recently awarded the Putra Brand Awards 2017 in the Education and Learning Category.
KDU is also having its Open Day on Jan 6 to 29, 2018 at Utropolis, Glenmarie campus.
