According to Salbiah, every year all the pupils will decorate their classes and the school compound with various decorations and Malaysia and Sarawak flags.

She said pupils were also taught to be proud to be Malaysians in a country which has a multi-racial and multi-religious population under the 1Malaysia spirit.

Salbiah said it is best to inculcate the spirit of patriotism and impart knowledge of history to pupils as early as pre-school so that when they grow older they will remember their forefathers’ hardship to gain independence and form Malaysia. She also said they should be taught the value and history of Malaysia and how important living in unity, peace and harmony is as the pillar for its success.

“Many more activities to mark the Malaysia Day celebration will be held in the school for the children,” she added.
