Bursa Malaysia ends higher on buying interests

0.62 per cent to 24,261.48 and Singapore’s Straits Times Index was 0.32 per cent higher to 3,185.10.

Market breadth was positive with 499 gainers and 430 gainers, while 349 counters were unchanged, 421 untraded and 14 others suspended.

Volume widened to 3.24 billion units worth RM2.55 billion from 3.12 billion units worth RM2.68 billion recorded at the end of trading day last week.

Of the other heavyweigh­ts, TNB gained four sen to RM13.76, Public Bank was six sen up to RM19.96 and Sime Darby added one sen to RM9.29. IHH Healthcare was flat at RM6. Petronas Chemicals fell six sen to RM7.64.

Eco World Internatio­nal, which debuted on the Main Market today, rose eight sen to RM1.28 and NetX edged up half-a-sen to three sen.

Borneo Oil and Vizione Holdings were flat at 19 sen and 13 sen, respective­ly. AT Systematiz­ation fell one sen to four sen.

The FBM Emas Index improved 44.13 points to 12,405.82, FBMT100 Index surged 42.39 points to 12,049.08 and the FBM 70 swelled 70.66 points to 14,621.13.

The FBM Emas Shariah Index was 25.94 points higher at 12,837.28 and the FBM Ace increased 54.42 points to 5,881.9. Sector-wise, the Finance Index surged 101.79 points to 15,761.46 and the Industrial Index was up 10.43 points to 3,264.85. The Plantation Index shed 10.03 points to 8,192.49.

Main Market turnover increased to 2.28 billion units worth RM2.38 billion from last Friday’s 2.21 billion units worth RM2.55 billion. Volume on the ACE Market rose to 786.25 million shares valued at RM138.87 million from 673.22 million shares valued at RM101.02 million last week.

Warrants, however, fell to 155.72 million units worth RM22.03 million from 224.27 million units worth RM26.23 million previously.

Consumer products accounted for 130.30 million shares traded on the Main Market, industrial products (396.63 million), constructi­on (304.42 million), trade and services (645.50 million), technology (249.44 million), infrastruc­ture (7.988 million), SPAC ( 1.25 million), finance ( 73.87 million), hotels (1.56 million), properties ( 442.896 million), plantation­s (18.89 million), mining (0), REITs (6.79 million) and closed/fund (62,000).
