PUTRAJAYA: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan yesterday launched the My Kuala Lumpur- Singapore High Speed Rail (MyHSR) Strategic Development Framework (SDF) delivery for creating inclusive growth along the HSR corridor.

In his keynote address, Abdul Rahman said the SDF was a holistic socio- economic development framework jointly created by all key stakeholders (at federal, state and local levels) and included representatives from the private sector as well as MyHSR Corporation and the Economic Planning Unit (EPU).

“The SDF lays out three components, namely the economy, inclusivity and sustainability,” he added.

The minister said the preparation for delivery would involve multiple stakeholder engagements, including a series of workshops in each city along the HSR corridor, as well as working sessions and labs that bring the public and private sectors together.

The stakeholders engagement programmes would begin next week for two months at Bandar Malaysia, Putrajaya, Seremban, Ayer Keroh, Muar, Batu Pahat and Iskandar Putri.

Abdul Rahman said the KLSingapore HSR project had been ranked by the Global Infrastructure Report 2016 as the world’s top strategic infrastructure project in term of contribution to regional economic productivity, competitiveness and sustainability.

“To fully reap the benefits of the HSR project, we must ensure that the right foundation for growth and development is laid.

“It requires integrating socioeconomic development planning with infrastructure delivery.

“This is a strategy that has been proven to work time and again in cities around the world that have benefited from their high speed rail projects,” he added. — Bernama
