KUCHING: Junior Chamber International (JCI) Kuching has stated its regret for not raising the targetted RM100,000 for Wishesland Kuching – the charitable body that serves as a rehabilitation centre for children with cerebral palsy (CP).
JCI Kuching 2016 president Thomas Teo said the organising committee set the target over three months ago with the ultimate aim of purchasing a van for Wishesland Kuching, which is situated at Jalan Crookshank.
“We want to raise that amount of money to buy a van for Wishesland to enable them to offer delivery (transport) services for working parents.
“However, we could not meet the target. I wouldn’t want to label this as a failure, but I do admit that there is room for improvement,” he said during the JCI Kuching and Wishesland Kuching charity night on Thursday.
Teo also cited the case of Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi – the first Malaysian Paralympic Games gold medallist – who has CP.
“His parents did not give up on him, likewise, neither did Ridzuan give up on his dream. Rather, Ridzuan worked his way
