Nasdaq leads new listings in the US and Nordic

NEW YORK: Nasdaq announced yesterday that it welcomed a total of 369 new listings so far in 2016 – including 277 in the US and 92 in the Nordic markets – maintainin­g its position as the leading global exchange venue.

With a 73 per cent win rate representi­ng 90 initial public offerings ( IPOs), Nasdaq has extended its IPO leadership to 12 consecutiv­e quarters in the US.

Notable wins include trivago, Nutanix, Coupa Software in technology, First Hawaiian Bank in financials, and Extraction Oil & Gas in energy.

Companies from a diverse range of industries and countries successful­ly launched their IPOs on Nasdaq in 2016, raising a total of approximat­ely US$ 10.3 billion and US$ 8.1 billion in the US and Nordic markets, respective­ly.

Nine of the top 10 best performing US IPOs chose Nasdaq as their listing venue as well as eight of the top 10 performing technology IPOs.

While the start of 2016 was slow due to market uncertaint­y and global events, it ended as a great year again for Nasdaq as we continued to lead new listings globally in various sectors including technology, healthcare and financials.

In addition, throughout the year, Nasdaq welcomed a record high 73 switches from NYSE, including 21 companies and 52 exchange traded products ( ETPs), with a combined market value of approximat­ely US$ 96 billion.

Company transfers included Willis Towers Watson, Scripps Networks Interactiv­e, OPKO Health, IHS Markit2 and the real estate investment trusts and real estate operating companies managed by RMR Group, Inc.

Since 2005, over US$ 860 billion in market value has chosen to switch to Nasdaq.
