-

KUCHING: Women are pillars of the family institution and on a par with men as both play a vital role as parents in producing quality human capital.

Assistant Minister of Public Utilities (Electricity and Telecommunication) Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said parents should work hand in hand in raising their children to become successful persons.

“Here in Pantai Damai constituency we emphasise on the importance of strengthening family institution as such approach will ensure that children will grow up to be successful,” he said when officiating at the Pantai Damai Women’s Day celebration held at Bandar Baru Samariang multipurpose hall here yesterday.

Dr Abdul Rahman who is also Pantai Damai assemblyman pointed out that parents are the role model in a family, as they are responsible to educate and provide guidance to their children as they grow.

Hence, parents should be more concerned on what their children were up to from time to time, adding it was essential that children receive the right guidance starting from a young age.

“It is generally known, that the generation of today will be the leaders of our country in future which is why it is our responsibility as parents to guide them towards the right path,” he said.

He urged parents to monitor their children’s activities in ensuring they were not involved in unhealthy social activities.

During the event Dr Abdul Rahman presented six wheelchairs to recipients from the constituency.

Also present were PBB Pantai Damai women chief Jamayah Sulaiman, deputy women chief Dayang Nora Awang Sabudin and PBB women exco members.
