ROMPIN: Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) through its subsidiary, PNB Commercial Sdn Bhd, is investing RM80 million to refurbish an old chalet and build a new wing at the Lanjut Beach and Golf Resort, here.

PNB commercial manager Rizahuddin Sohari said following the company’s takeover of the resort previously called D’Lanjut in 2010, renovation works and building of new hotel rooms had been undertaken in the last few years.

“The new resort portion known as East Wing will feature unique building designs with a touch of modern comtemporary.

“It will contain 196 guest rooms, Olympic-size swimming pool, lobby and ballroom for meetings.

“Besides that, we will also provide facilities such as spa, team building activities, as well as beach and land sports,” he told Bernama here, recently.

Rizahuddin said the construction is now 80 per cent complete and it was expected to be operational by February next year.

When completed, the East Wing is expected to become the new attraction especially to visitors from the corporate sector which can conduct training and other events there, as the Lanjut Beach & Golf Resort also provides an 18-hole golf course next to the sea and lake.

Additionally, the West Wing which is the old part of the resort offering 86 units of deluxe, chalet, villa and lobby, as well as swimming pool is now undergoing refurbishment to ensure visitors get the best services.

The resort, which is sprawled over a 200-hectare area, is located close to the Endau Rompin National Park, surrounded by tropical forests of more than 100 years old and has a private beach spanning 3.5 kilometres.

Rizahuddin said once the East Wing is completed, it was expected to create 150 new job opportunities to local residents including Orang Asli from nearby areas.

“Besides local residents, we will offer jobs to the Orang Asli and provide them suitable courses such as communication courses to enable them to enter the job market in the hotel industry,” he said.

Currently, the resort employs 80 workers of whom 70 are local residents, he added. — Bernama
