Mohd Rashid leads Penang exco members in taking oath of office

GEORGE TOWN: Bayan Bayu Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) division deputy chief, Mohd Rashid Hasnon yesterday led the newlyappoi­nted Penang state executive council (exco) members in taking their oath of office in Dewan Seri Pinang, here.

Mohd Rashid, who is also a state PKR committee member, was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister I before Penang Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas at 10am.

He holds the Industrial Developmen­t and Internatio­nal Trade, Cooperativ­es, Community Developmen­t and Entreprene­ur Developmen­t portfolio.

Also sworn in was Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy, who is also the State Economic Planning, Education and Human Resources, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman.

The eight other state exco members who took their oath included state Local Government, Trafffic Management and Flood Mitigation Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow, and state Islamic Affairs, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Malik Abul Kassim.

State Youth and Sports, Women, Family and Community Developmen­t and Arts Committee chairman Chong Eng, Publis Works, Utilities ( Energy, Water and Telecommun­ications) and Transporta­tion (Air, Sea and Rail) Committee chairman Lim Hock Seng, and Tourism Developmen­t and Culture Committee chairman Law Heng Kiang were also sworn in.

The others tho took their oath were state Welfare, Caring Community and Environmen­t Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, Town and Country Planning and Housing Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo, and Agricultur­e and Agro-based Industry, Rural Developmen­t and Health Committtee chairman Dr Afif Bahardin.

Also present were Abdul Rahman’s wife Toh Puan Majimor Shariff, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and his wife Betty Chew. — Bernama
