SPDP Kota Sentosa wants Tiong in cabinet
KUCHING: SPDP Kota Sentosa branch wants Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing to be appointed a minister in the new federal cabinet line-up.
Its chairman, Thomas Ng hoped that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would seriously consider their request not only because Tiong was a respected politician, but more importantly, he was the only Chinese BN MP from the state.

Besides SPDP, SUPP is the other party in the state BN with sizeable Chinese representation. However, SUPP candidates lost in all the Chinese predominant seats - Bandar Kuching, Stampin, Sibu, Lanang, Sarikei and Miri - to Pakatan Rakyat in the 13th general election. SUPP only won Serian, a predominantly Bidayuh seat, through Datuk Richard Riot.
On a related development, Ng dismissed talks that the Chinese in the state were not supportive of the BN. He said that BN was able to retain Bintulu partly due to the strong support from the Chinese community.
