Orang Asli given assurance that their welfare will be looked after

PEKAN: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has given his assurance that the government will continue to look after the welfare of the Orang Asli in the best manner possible and that they would not be ignored.

The Prime Minister said in this regard, the Orang Asli community must continue to support the struggles of the Barisan Nasional ( BN) government to ensure that they continued to enjoy the facilities provided.

“I assure that we will champion the cause of the Orang Asli community in the best manner possible. We are not a government that enters the Orang Asli settlement to incite and give empty promises,” he said.

He disclosed this in his speech at a gathering with the Orang Asli community and the launch of the rural electricit­y supply for the Gumum Orang Asli village in Chini, near here yesterday.

Najib said the government had never been stingy in implementi­ng developmen­t for the people including the Orang Asli community.

“All the developmen­t agenda carried out by the government is based on the principles of social justice to ensure that all the people benefit from national prosperity.

“We want to prove that the 1Malaysia Concept that was introduced has benefited all the people. It means that we must have feelings for all section of society including the Orang Asli community.

“As such, under the 1Malaysia sky, no one will be exempted from enjoying the benefits,” he said.

Najib said the BN government spent RM1.8 million to implement the power supply project for 24 houses under the ‘ Kasih Felda’ programme at the village, which came to RM75,000 for each house. — Bernama
